02.09.2025 - Character Sheets + Organizing

So, OC creation is a lot of work it turns out! I've had some of these characters for almost 10 years! I haven't made proper ref sheets of all of them, but I do have a very very vague idea of the overall story. Of course, nothing is set in stone until I actually make something but its nice to see the small bits of progress I've achieved so far!

Most OC stories take place in one universe, and they're numbered by when in the universe's timeline they occur. Would probably be easier if I used a pin board or something, but this way I can just renumber a story if I feel like it needs to move up or down in the timeline.

I got the idea to make a timeline from the Steven Universe End of an Era artbook! I got my copy through a Humble Bundle thing but a quick search online can yield results for the full doc : ) Anyway, I took example of the timeline from the SU crew and noted down the story beats, character moments and other important pivotal moments in my OC story.

My OCs are a passion project, a pipe dream, something I can retreat to when the day job gets a little too overwhelming or life becomes a little too stressful. I care deeply for the plot, and I stress if I feel like the story doesn't make sense or plot beats feel off. I currently have a "Do Not Share Until Ready" rule for myself. Truthfully, nothing about my OCs are set in stone. I don't want to spoil any part of the story because it's very likely I'll change my mind if I come up with a better scenario.

I do want to make something before I hit 30 though! Just trying to do everything little by little. So, what have I been doing?

  • World Building
  • Plot Beat Planning

Ultimately I want a written draft of the story events by the end of the year, and then maybe a revised draft a little after that?

I've started making full body ref sheets since 2022, but they're still taking a while. I started out the project in Clip, but moved over because it's a little easier to mass export the canvas boards.

I have almost 30 characters on this site so that's a lot of drawing! I don't want to draw everyone just yet, but there are characters who are more developed than others.

This has been a WIP for nearly a year. If I don't finish this, then I promise to draw 5 more art requests orz
