Images are hosted on PostImage. They're rather high resolution, so just click to see the art in full detail!
If I do more I'll be posting them in a gallery hosted on postimages!
I've always been the type of person to just draw for people, and honestly I kind of miss doing it! I don't really have a fandom to draw for, and all my OCs are still under my self-imposed "Do Not Share Until Ready" restriction. (When will this be lifted? Er, see next blog post.)
For each character I wanted to capture an art style / vibe that I thought would suit them best. I looked at a lot of the video games and comics that I really liked and pulled influences from there. There's a lot of really good art out in the world, and it's hard to pinpoint where I want to go with my art style. I'm still trying to adapt to Affinity Photo 2, so for the most part I was looking at my inspiration art and trying see what methods and tools I can use to replicate the vibe.
I try not to let program bias affect how I make art, I mean, one of my favorite comic artist rocked Photoshop CS2 until 2019. There's a few reasons why I don't just go back to Clip Studio but the main one is, as a graphic designer who's life is tied to Adobe Illustrator, Clip Studio's UI is just so hard to swap back to. Where is my pen tool? I miss (Insert Vector Tool Here).
It's like... Imagine a physical art studio where you know where all your tools are, how they work and the best way to use them. Now, imagine that on some days, you need to leave that art studio and go to another one that has equally good tools but 1. You don't know where everything is. 2. You don't remember how it works because you're only here some days. 3. You spend a lot of time looking for the best method that suites your personal taste but that means having less time on the actual project.
Affinity is just that similar to Photoshop and Illustrator that the differences are only a minor inconvenience instead of a battle of habits. My personal favorite thing though is the vector tool. Like, Really, vector is peak. Why don't we have it on every art program?
